I have read in the book of my father, may Allah Taala bless him with Mercy and Love, that Khawf/Khauf or fear is from the terms of Tasawwuf, and it has four types:

1. The fear of Aathims (sinners) is of punishment,
2. The fear of Aabids (pious ones) is of losing their reward,
3. The fear of Aashiqs (lovers) is of losing the nearness of Allah Taala,
4. The fear of Aarifs (those who know) is of mightiness and grandeur of Allah Taala

My father, may Allah Taala bless him with Mercy and Lover, further says that the fear of Aarifs is the eternal and everlasting fear, and that it never decreases, and that Allah Taala always keeps their fear in His blessings and kindness, and that it is the most superior of all fears.

Allahumma Salli ala Muhammadin wa ala Aali Muhammad...
