Bismillah irRahman irRahim
I have read in the book of my father, may Allah Taala bless him with Mercy and Love, that Faqr is a mental or spiritual condition in which a person, or man of Tasawwuf, or Faqeer:
- offers Salaat or prayers more and more
- remains with fast or Saum, more and more
- keeps always his Zikr of Allah Taala continued
- speaks always the truth
- keeps his heart capacious, and remains amicable
- never reveals some one's secret
- never involves in untoward discussions
- never takes revenge from any one
- remains trust worthy, and does not cheat any one in/with his Amanat
- never gets involved in back-biting
- avoids the useless talks, and remains silent
- never laughs with a voice, but always responds with a smile
- advises the others about Truth and Deen
- tries to teach the ignorant
- respects the poor, and gives him a seat
- feeds the resource-less (miskeen)
- protects the orphans (yateem) and helps him
- tries to give comfort to his neighbors
- treats others with kindness and manners
- remains patient, thankful, generous, contented, and busy in his routines
Allahumma Salli ala muhammadin wa ala Aali Muhammad...
