The 21 Obligatory Qualities of a Muslim

From Futuh-ul-Ghayb: an excerpt.

Hz. Ghouth Pak Qibla Shaykh Abd-ul-Qadir Jilani r.a. says that to:

  1. follow the Sunnah
  2. avoid the Bid'at
  3. obey the Prophet s.a.w.
  4. believe Allah Taala as One
  5. attribute no one with Allah Taala
  6. imagine the Prophet s.a.w as faultless
  7. accept Islam as Truth
  8. be patient in trials and misfortunes
  9. remain steadfast in good and bad days
  10. ask always Allah Taala for His Mercy and Blessing
  11. be not hopeless in failures
  12. be always hopeful with Allah Taala
  13. live among other Muslims with love and sympathy
  14. remain away from all malice and enmity
  15. observe the Ibadat of Allah Taala with Jamaat or congregation
  16. like others for the sake of Allah Taala
  17. beautify the life with the Ibadat of Allah Taala
  18. be attentive only to Him, and never avert
  19. be hasty in making Tauba or repentance
  20. be days and nights with His remembrance
  21. be not lazy in making excuse

Shaykh r.a. says that every Muslim should observe these things carefully, and then be hopeful that Allah Taala who is Forgiving and Merciful may put Mercy on him, and may make him fortunate. That Allah Taala may secure him from Jahannam, and bless him with Jannat

Allahumma Salli ala Muhammadin wa ala Aali Muhammad.
