Bismillah irRahman irRahim
From Futuh-ul-Ghayb: an Excerpt.
Hz. Ghouth-e-Azam, Syed Abd-ul-Qadir Jilani r.a. says that when a person is inflicted with some pain or trial, he first tries to remove it by himself, then with the help of his nears and dears one, and then, in the end, when he doe not succeed in removing that pain or trial, he goes to Allah Taala, and puts his request forward.
Shaykh r.a. says that by this time he has no hope from any one except from Allah Taala, so he puts his requests forward with utmost honesty. But to his surprise Allah Taala does not accept his requests, and prolongs his duration of infliction. Now the desires, efforts, plans, hopes, and all other emotions and feelings starts melting down, and the Abd feels that he is only for Allah Taala, and that he is to return to Him. Now when the Abd is left with nothing from emotions and feelings, from visions and powers, Allah Taala blesses with spiritual status, whatsoever he likes.
Allahumma Salli ala Muhammadin wa ala Aali Muhammad....
