From Futuh-ul-Ghayb, and Excerpt:
Hz. Ghouth-e-Azam, Shaykh Syed Abd-ul-Qadir Jilani r.a. says that a person should understand Fate or Taqdeer, and be separate from the whole of Creation. He should understand the Sharee'a and be separate from the whole of Nafs or Self.
The Shaykh r.a. says that to be separate from the creation means one should have no expectation from them. He should have no hope and no fear. In the same way, to be separate from Nafs means one should have no desire of his own. All his Will and Effort should be in the obedience of Allah Taala.
Allahumma Salli ala Muhammadin wa ala Aali Muhammad...
